A benefit performance of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues

Performed by a talented local cast, "The Vagina Monologues" is a collection of moving, often hilarious, heart-wrenching stories that share a common theme: the joys, challenges and trials of owning a vulva. The monologues, an award-winning play by Eve Ensler, delve into women?s sexuality, strengths, sisterhood, humor, and more; a few monologues share the pain of rape, abuse and intolerance. Adult language and content. Two performances: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12, 2016, at the Shasta College Theater, Redding; and 7 p.m. Feb. 20, 2016, at the State Theater, Red Bluff. Tickets are $15 each and available at girlsincNSV.org, Eventbrite.com, Toucan Tans in Redding and Wink in Red Bluff. Attendees will be supporting ongoing Girls Inc. NSV programs for local girls, including group classes that teach girls to nurture their own self-esteem, respect their bodies and each other, and to recognize and defend themselves against harmful relationships. Girls Inc. wide range of programs also teach girls financial literacy, encourage participation in sports and community leadership, and mentor girls as they seek careers in science, math, technology and engineering.
