The Rockaway Beach Kite festival returns May 22-25, 2015, at the Ocean’s Edge Wayside.
Sponsored by the American Kitefliers Association, the annual Rockaway Beach Kite Festival features professional and amateur kite fliers for the 20th year at the new Ocean’s Edge Wayside. The American Kitefliers Association is the largest organized group of kiters in the world and travels all over to spread the joy of kiting to people of all ages and skills. The event offers contests in a friendly, unofficial environment. Participants can compete to win awards for having the nicest kite, the kite that drags on the ground the longest before becoming airborne, and many other events. Children can join in the fun as they build and learn to fly small kites during special classes.
Anyone who wants to bring their own kite to fly is welcome and encouraged to do so. The Rockaway Beach Kite Festival also features live music, kite exhibitions, an array of vendors, and tasty meals all weekend. Come hungry, and bring a camera to photograph the beautiful kites that will grace the skies along the beach at the Ocean’s Edge Wayside.

Every year since 1981 on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, fishing village residents and visitors, gather at the Coast Guard Memorial to remember those local members of the fishing and maritime industries whose lives have been lost at sea.
Prayer ceremonials are steered for the safety of those who continue to earn their living on the water.
This event features Coast Guard personnel, guest speakers and local and regional dignitaries.
Afterwards, units of the local fishing fleet, led by a Coast Guard vessel, head out to sea to place flowers on the ocean.

This event is a wonderful way for local leaders to show their commitment to the health of Tillamook County Estuaries and Salmon Habitat Enhancement Projects.
Each year, Tillamook Estuaries Partnership (TEP) pulls out all the stops for our premier community event, Bounty on the Bay. This fun-filled weekend, which includes a fishing tournament, silent auction and fantastic food, is a wonderful way for local leaders to show their commitment to the health of Tillamook County estuaries and salmon habitat enhancement projects by supporting TEP.
This year’s Bounty on the Bay, slated for May 29-30, will be held at the Old Mill Marina in Garibaldi. The activities will begin with a pasta dinner on Friday, May 29th at 6pm, and a fabulous fishing workshop on herring with Ted Teufel, followed by a fishing tournament on Saturday, May 30th, which culminates with a WORLD CLASS Grilled Seafood Dinner at 5 pm. We hope to see you there!
