Oct 21 - Feb 4    Guided Nature Walks (Butte County)
The CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife, Gray Lodge Wildlife Area (Gridley, CA) hosts 1.5-hour public walking tours, every Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 12:30pm. Known as one of the premier birding spots in northern CA, local experts will lead you on a 1/2-mile stroll, to an elevated viewing deck. Here you will have a bird's-eye view of wildlife. The guide will inform you of wildlife adaptations, natural history, conservation efforts and help you better identify wildlife. Self-guided visits are also welcome. Tours cancel in heavy rain. No reservations are necessary for groups under twelve people. Jan 9 - Jan 30    QuickBooks I, II, III & IV Series - 4 Weeks Series
This 4-part QuickBooks series begins with how QBs works, getting around, learning common accounting terms used by QBs, creating a new company file, setting preferences, entering new customer, vendors accounts, & items, backing up your data and basic accounting, & reviewing the basic Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow reports. You will learn about working with bank accounts (including how to handle PayPal & Square), reconciling accounts, using other account types (credit cards, loans & fixed assets), entering sales information, receiving payments & making deposits, generating customer statements, entering & paying bills, downloading bank and credit card activity, issuing 1099s, and memorizing transactions. The later series covers, running related financial reports, analyzing financial data, setting up inventory, tracking & paying sales tax, tracking time, customizing forms/letters and overview of more advanced features (syncing contacts, sharing your file electronically with your accountant, exporting to Excel, using the Doc Center, entering budgets, & technical suggestions when you have problems). The trainer is a CPA and QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Training includes manual.

Governor Jerry Brown signed more than 800 new bills into law in October of 2017.

Many of these new laws significantly impact employers, including:
  • Changes to California’s minimum wage
  • The expansion of parental leaves of absence to employers with 20 employees
  • Measures limiting information employers can ask job applicants about salary and criminal history; and
  • New requirements for mandatory sexual harassment prevention training.
