Jan 6 - Apr 1    Ranger-led Snowshoe Walks
Ranger-led snowshoe walks are an excellent way to explore Lassen in its winter form. Walks are held every Saturday and Sunday Jan. 6- April 1. Walk are open to those 8 years and older and last 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Space is limited; free tickets are available each day inside the visitor center.

Feb 27 - Mar 15    CASA Training
Please contact us and sign up for our next classes. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Tehama County is starting our next training Tuesday February 27th, classes will be Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Class end date is Thursday March 15th. CASA Volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don't get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each child until case is closed and child is placed in a safe, permanent home.

Mar 10    Seasonal Wildlife Survey - Nest Boxes (Butte County)
The CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife, Gray Lodge Wildlife Area (Gridley, CA) is seeking volunteers, ages 18 and older, to take part in its annual Wood Duck Nest Box Program. Working closely with a section leader, you will help maintain habitat and experience wildlife up close. The crews of two or three workers will also collect detailed data, used to understand and enhance the local wood duck population and other wildlife, including wrens, owls and flycatchers. Although the work can be physically challenging at times, this remains one of our most popular volunteer opportunities. Maintenance checks are conducted bi-weekly mornings, from April to July. Most sections take about four hours to complete. The orientation for this season-long program will be March 10th, 9 to 3:30 on Gray Lodge. Reservations are required. Space is limited.
