Sep 6    Assemblage, Collage & Mixed Media Art Exhibit
Main Event Gallery Exhibit: September 6-29th, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, 11 am- 5 pm Reception: Friday, September 7th, 5 – 8 pm Artist Kaliya Crowe expresses her creative energy through assemblage, collage and other unique forms of multimedia art. Crowe is the featured artist for September at the Main Event Gallery, 710 Main Street, Red Buff, with a public reception to be held Friday, September 7th, 5-8 pm. Included in the exhibit will be works by Gallery artists and photographers in a variety of medias including abstract and traditional art. Crowe was greatly influenced by her Grandfather's teaching concerning the sacredness of nature and life, which has been a theme of her art through life. She sold her first piece of art at age seven and drew the energy of a tree rather than depicting the tree. In her 20's she began journaling and making small sketches, which led her to cutting out pictures from magazines and incorporating small objects. While attending an art show in Los Angeles she was amazed to see works like hers that were called art. Encouraged, Kaliya has focused on assemblage and collage, which are forms of two and three-dimensional art. Crowe says, " I look in thrift and second-hand stores for items that strike my fancy, things my artist sense tells me will become art. Select items are put together for each piece."
