Oct 10    The Truth About Drugs
Now that marijuana is legal does that mean it's safe? Is vaping safer than cigarette use?The drug landscape is constantly changing and questions abound about drug use and its impact on today's youth. Come learn the FACTs about youth substance abuse at this new drug awareness class. Topics include signs and symptom of drug use, the effects of drug use on the teen brain, and prevention tips on how to keep your child drug-free. The class is FREE and open to all community members. Parents, teens, youth workers, and educators and especially encouraged to attend. The class is repeated on the second Wednesday of the month during the school year. Reservations are not required, but are encouraged.

WHAT: Trivia Game Night to Benefit the Cottonwood Community Library WHEN: Sat. Oct 13, 2018 Doors will open at 5:00pm. Instructions for the game will begin at approximately 5:30pm, and the actual games will begin at 6:00. . WHERE: Sacred Heart Parish Hall 3141 St. Stephen’s Drive Anderson, CA HOW MUCH: Cost is $10 per person and each table can have a maximum of 8 people per team. So put a team together, or just register with a few of your friends and we will put you together at a table. Note that each player on the winning team wins $40! So grab your smart friends and make your team the winning team to beat! Answers are given as a group, so no one is ever on the spot for a correct answer. Team work wins the game! FUN FACTOR: There will be lots of fun and laughter as you make your way through each category of trivia questions. We will have breaks between rounds. Fun and fast games of “Heads or Tails” as well as a 50/50 raffle will take place between sessions. Join us as we celebrate the 26th annual Return of the Salmon Festival. The family friendly event is free to the public and will have over 50 booths with information and activities. Oct 27    National DEA Drug Take-Back Day
Safely dispose of your unused, unwanted, and expired medications by dropping them off at one of three local collection sites between the hours of 10 am - 2 pm: the Tehama County Sheriff's Office, the Red Bluff Community Center, and the Corning Police Department. Disposal is free and anonymous with no questions asked. Coordinated by the DEA in conjunction with local law enforcement, Take Back Day is part of a national effort to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. Permanent Medication Disposal Kiosks are available throughout the year at the Tehama County Sheriff's Department and the Corning Police Department.
